Discord asks for phone verification: what if you have no number?

You can start a Discord account with email, but a later “Verification Required” screen may ask for a mobile number. Read Discord’s number restrictions before getting another number: VoIP, burner, landline, or already-linked numbers may be rejected.

Can you create a Discord account without a phone number?

Discord’s mobile signup allows email or phone. If you choose email, complete the email message first. There is no need to obtain an SMS number unless the account or server later asks for a phone check.

“Verification Required”: what number does Discord expect?

Discord asks for a valid mobile number and an SMS code. Its help center says VoIP, burner, landline, and numbers already linked to another Discord account cannot be used. A mobile number you control is the most reliable option.

A Discord listing does not certify that a number meets Discord’s mobile-number policy. Check its type and order details first.

  1. If you inspect a Bridge-SMS Discord option, verify the number type and country before proceeding; a service label is not proof of eligibility.
  2. Enter the number with the requested country code and submit it in Discord.
  3. If Discord sends a text, read it in the active order and enter the code in Discord. If the number is rejected before sending, no text will arrive.

Discord says it sent a text, but no code appears?

  1. Compare the full number in Discord with the one shown in your active order.
  2. Check that Discord selected SMS, not another verification method, and that the order is still active.
  3. Follow Discord’s displayed resend timer and the order’s rules. A temporary number cannot be relied on for future account recovery.
